In Hush Silence of Retiring Night (a Sonnet) Eric Wasiolek - 1976
In hush silence of retiring night I dis-cover warm world and meet cold morn While corpses ‘neath flowerbeds wait first light I to pre-resurrected life sojourn
Thoughts that pursue in clocks circular chase Disappear in morning’s timeless hours And sweet tranquil moments these thoughts replace With taste of life less hurried less sour
Moments in unclocked fluidity flow As silence sounds in unpendulous swing Chimes chant voicelessly til morning’s faint glow When eyes squint notice of daylight’s bright sting
Disentombed, clock hand, bright lights chase each thought Through daylight’s timed course, restful morning’s forgot |
